Founded in the 7th century, the town of Munster grew up round a Benedictine abbey. An imperial town in the Alsatian Decapole, it became a flagship of the textile industry in the 18th century. «Man of Gunshach and citizen of the world» : this is how Albert Schweitzer described himself. Gunsbach is where you will find his family home, which now retraces the life of the Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Another must : the Memorial museum of Linge, a First World War battlefield. This restored site pays tributs to a battle which cost the lives of 17,000 French and German soldiers.
